Drake joins Forbes list of richest hip hop artists

Despite the late great Notorious B.I.G.'s persuasive philosophical stance of "Mo Money, Mo Problems," for the wealthiest hip hop artists in the world right now, things are looking rather rosey. That's especially true for the newest person to make his way onto Forbes' list of Hip-Hop's Wealthiest Artists, Canada's very own Aubrey Drake Graham. Last year, 50 Cent was #4 on the Top 5 list, but is knocked out of the ranking completely this year, as Drake squeaks in as the newest (and youngest) member of the elite club. Click through to see just how much money Drake needs to make to take over the top spot.

Drake
Net worth: $60 million
With lucrative deals from Nike, Sprite and Apple, plus his role as the Global Ambassador of the Toronto Raptors, Drake is finding himself well on his way to his goal of making $250 million by the time he's 30. (Although that birthday is coming up in October...hopefully, Drake has some very big summer plans.)

Bryan "Birdman" Williams
Net worth: $110 million
Birdman, as founder of Cash Money records, is associated with some of the biggest acts of the last few years, including Lil Wayne, who founded Young Money Entertainment, the label behind Drake and Nicki Minaj. While Birdman's wealth has dropped significantly over the last couple of years (Forbes reported he was worth $160 million in 2014, and $140 million in 2015), it's still enough to remain in the top five by a significant margain.

Shawn "Jay Z" Carter
Net worth: $610 million
Tidal, Jay Z's music subscription service, has had its troubles as of late, but that hasn't stopped it from making major money for its owner. The company is currently estimated to be worth three times its purchase price of $56 million, according to Forbes.

Andre "Dr. Dre" Young
Net worth: $710 million
Between the sale of his Beats By Dre brand to Apple two years ago and the success of the N.W.A. biographical film "Straight Outta Compton" in 2015, Dr. Dre is holding firm at the #2 spot on Forbes' list. Combined with his portfolio of real estate in southern California and his upcoming autobiographical TV series produced by Apple, Dr. Dre shouldn't see his fortunes dwindling any time soon.

Sean "Diddy" Combs
Net worth: $750 million
At the top of the list once again is Diddy, aka P. Diddy, aka Puff Daddy, aka Puffy. Whatever his name, he's a savvy businessman with stakes in Revolt TV network, the Sean John clothing line and beverage company Aquahydrate -- not to mention his own Combs Enterprises, which includes Bad Boy Entertainment. Combs' most profitable venture this year, however, was his partnership with Ciroc vodka. Combs has announced he will be retiring from the music business this year, but somehow, it seems like he'll still find plenty of ways to keep at the top of this list.
